Getting the right web designer is an important step to having a successful online presence. It’s important to have a web designer you know you can work with – someone who can listen to your ideas and turn them into  technical concepts in a way that isn’t confusing.  Our goal is to ensure that your new website is professional,  optimised for both visitors and search engines, and  achieves the purpose you need it to.

You can check out some of the clients we have done work for in the past, below. If we sound like the organisation you’d like to work with, please contact us.

New Zealand Weather Network (weather.net.nz )

The weather.net.nz website showcases the possibilities of a community based website. The site has a number of features attractive top community groups that are available individually or as a package:

  • Community social groups, which work the same way as Facebook. For example a national organisation may want to allow local groups, to manage and promote their local activities on their website, by giving their own socail group to do so. On the weather.net.nz site this is set up regionally so news relating to weather events are focused locally, and can be added to in real time as those events happen at a local level.
  • Blog sections, again grouped into specific interest groups. Blogs have full commenting and workflow management allowing approval before publishing
  • Forum, allowing site members using a traditional forum approach
  • Auto posting to Facebook, X (formerly twitter) and other social media sites, and embedding of external social media feeds into your website
  • Multi layout and multi template based design allowing for article creation and updates to be made easily.

Chris Traill Photography (christraillphotos.co.nz )

Prominent Auckland photographer Chris Traill, commissioned us to produce a website that could be used to display his stunning photography. The site design called for a minimalist approach with a professional look and feel, that emphasised Chris’s work, rather than the site. Full use was made of a Gallery script, allowing Chris to upload additional work at his leisure, without additional cost.

Hutt Weather (huttweather.co.nz )

Hutt Weather uses information provided from a home weather station in Maungaraki, Lower Hutt in New Zealand. The information is fed into Brian Hamilton’s Weather Display application via a Raspberry Pi and then displayed using a publicly available template.

A video feed is also made available on the site, direct from an installed webcam beside the weather station hardware, providing a great view down Wellington Harbour and out to Cook Strait.

The site is hosted using our own servers, and updated around every 60 seconds, meaning reliability and bandwidth are important considerations.

Data from the site is integrated into Home Assistant and is utilised for determining optimum timing for rainwater collection and irrigation.

It’s a great example of how live data can be displayed and updated on the web, and how delivery of complex information can be displayed quickly, cheaply and easily.

New Zealand Local Weather

(localweather.net.nz )

The New Zealand Local Weather website is a busy community forum based on the Simple Machines Forum (SMF) software. We did much of the set up and configuration, and ongoing support for a number of years.

We still host the website having now habded over the reigns of day to day support to it's owners.

With the site having been around now for a number of years, there is a significant historical record of weather events on the website.

NZLWN

New Zealand Masters Swimming

A national organisation requiring a professional method of communication to it’s members, and potential members, both here and overseas. WebNZ as OnTheInternet.co.nz was involved in development of both site content and design, along with integration of the site into the organisation.

The site featured a full content management solution, allowing delegated members the ability to update content on the website without relying on a third party. The site also featured a members only area, which allows members access to information specifically targeted to their needs.

Members and national officers could also manage their membership details via the website.

Other features we demoed were a social media area set up so that individual (local) clubs could maintain their own area of the site, allowing them to promote their own events to local and national Masters Swimmers.

WebNZ as OnTheInternet.co.nz provided ongoing support for the website, in the form of site maintenance and addition of new functionality, to support the changing nature of the organisation over the 20+ years we were associated with it.
